Attorney Steve Estey
In the nearly three decades he has worked for Estey & Bomberger, the firm he founded, Steve has always focused on those harmed or injured, or those whose property was damaged. Corporations and insurance companies have attorneys to protect them, and Steve protects the injured individuals and families. If a case involves significant damage or harm to person or property, there is no one more passionate, no one more trusted to make things right, than Steve.
All cases are complicated to some degree, and Steve is a master of making a complicated case simple, distilling the case down to the best and most pertinent information so that he can earn the best result for his client. Though a natural leader with a competitive spirit, Steve is warm and compassionate; it’s one of the things that makes his clients speak so highly of him and their client-attorney bond. As the best leaders do, Steve relies on his powerhouse legal team and has been rewarded with notable success, including many variations of “highest verdict in…” any number of categories.
Steve’s strong ties with his wife, their two children and large extended family, not to mention the many local schools and community organizations Steve supports, allow him to identify strongly with other people’s families and ensure that they are well taken care of after a devastating event. Never afraid of a challenge, whether on a Motocross bike or in a courtroom, Steve’s commitment to a win is evident in everything he does. Steve’s attitude has benefitted one client after another over the very many years of his practice.
Steve’s clients and their families have earned verdicts or settlements — in the eight-digit range more often than not; his recent record including $60 million, $30 million, $23 million, $15 million and $6.5 million are not outliers, but rather, consistent with the value of Steve’s cases at hand.
Steve received his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University (major in Criminal Justice) and his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He was admitted to California’s State Bar in 1992, and is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, as well as both the 9th and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Steve is a member of ABOTA, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and boasts an AV-Preeminent rating with Martindale-Hubbell, it’s highest peer ranking. Many other prestigious organizations count Steve as a member, including the San Diego County Bar Association, American Association for Justice and American Bar Association, as well as Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the National Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, the Better Business Bureau, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He has been named ‘Top Plaintiff Lawyer’ by the Daily Journal, “Trial Attorney of the Year” twice (in 2011 and again in 2013) by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and “Outstanding Trial Lawyer” three times by that same organization.
Steve is often called upon by his colleagues to speak at seminars and educational events in the professional community. Recent engagements include the Utah Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the Color of Child Welfare Conference in Milwaukee, the East Los Angeles Women’s Center, the National Center for Victims of Crime and more.
